Santa Monica Courtyard

This small shaded back lawn had seen better days.  The owners wanted a complete change now that their children were grown up and they wanted to use their back yard as a place to entertain yet have minimal maintenance and have a small organic edible landscape too.  A raised bed with espaliered apples was also added so they could grow some food and herbs were added around each standard ‘Kishu’ mandarin in the courtyard to create beauty and act as a green mulch around the fruit trees.  An existing hedge was removed and replace with a variegated Pittosporum tenuifolium ‘Marjorie Channon’ to add brightness and interest. Clean, ordered, easy to maintain.
